Hey Monroe Library Patrons! This blog was created to keep you up to date on the latest Library News! Click here to return to the Monroe Library Portal! Did you know our school was named after the 5th President of the United States James Monroe. He served two terms from 1817 to 1825. He gave his name to the Monroe Doctrine (warning Europe against expansion in America). He was considered unfashionable and a bit dull. He was the first president to tour the country and he was also the first to display his own hair in public (previous presidents wore wigs). He died of heart failure at the age of 73 and was the third president to die on Independence Day.
